How do I save or share my finish video?
When the video is on for your race, your results page carries a Finisher’s Record: a real video built from every timing mat you crossed, your official certificate, and a link that proves both are real. Unlike the other Pack artifacts, the video isn’t rendered on our servers ahead of time: it’s built right there in your own browser, so saving and sharing it both happen on the same page.
How it works
Under The video, pick where it’s going: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and a few others are listed. That single tap is the only step. It shapes the file for that destination (tall for TikTok and Instagram, wide for YouTube) and starts building it immediately. A progress bar shows how far along it is; keep the tab open and in front of you until it finishes, the same as the note on the page says.
Once it’s ready you get two buttons:
- Save the video downloads the file straight to your device. This is always available, on desktop and mobile alike.
- Open share sheet hands the file to your device or browser’s own share screen, the same one a photo or link uses. This button only shows up where that feature exists, which today is mostly phones; most desktop browsers don’t have one, so Save the video is the one to use there.
Picking a different destination that wants the same shape (say, switching from TikTok to Instagram) reuses the file that’s already built rather than rendering it again. Picking one that needs the other shape (TikTok to YouTube, say) builds a new one.
Saving on an iPhone
Tap Open share sheet, then Save Video in the sheet that opens. The file lands in your Photos app, the same as saving any other video. From there it’s a normal video on your phone: post it, message it, or leave it in your camera roll.
Posting straight to an Instagram Story from the share sheet also works, at the video’s full length: Instagram doesn’t trim it.
The caption
Under the two buttons is a short line of text with its own Copy caption button: built from your finish time, your event, and your results link, ready to paste straight into whatever you’re posting to. This is separate from the longer Social Media Race Story elsewhere in your Pack, which is a full written recap of your race, not a one-line caption. Use either one, or both.
If you don’t see a video option
A few reasons the video might not be there, all normal:
- The video isn’t on for your race. Whether it renders depends on how your race timer set the event up. Your certificate, results, and every other part of your Pack work the same either way.
- The Finisher’s Pack is required and you haven’t bought it. On some events the video comes only with the Pack, the same as the certificate and the rest. See I bought the Finisher’s Pack but my certificate isn’t showing if you’ve purchased and still don’t see it.
- Your browser can’t record video. You’ll see a note saying so instead of the build controls. Try a recent version of Chrome, Edge, or Safari. Your certificate and the rest of the page are unaffected.
Still stuck?
If the build never finishes, gets stuck on the progress bar, or the file won’t open once it’s downloaded, email support@splitkit.run with the URL of your results page and which browser and device you’re using.
